Six Sentence Sunday

By Janna Lee Hayes | March 7, 2010

This is my first time participating in Six Sentence Sunday, but here’s a little bit about my current WIP, Almost Perfect.

A funky jazz mix trailed Cate across the stage. She turned then smiled at the bandleader, who acknowledged her with a quick wave. As she crossed behind the wine-colored chairs, Greg Miller took her hand between his and pulled her close. His breath was hot behind her ear, but Cate couldn’t understand what he was saying. Instead, she smiled at the crowd and gave a little wink before she settled into the chair, careful not to flash the cameras or the audience. Why she’d worn such a short dress, she’d never know.

Look for other Six Sentence Sunday participants!  There’s a great group of authors there!!

Heaven Sent Sin Release Day!

By Janna Lee Hayes | October 30, 2009

I’m so very excited to share that Heaven Sent Sin is releasing today from The Wilder Rose Press.

In 1882, Eliza Walker earned money the only way she could, servicing the men of Johnson County, Wyoming…until Ben Dalton spent a night in her bed and made promises of a future. But he’s been gone three long months and her fear of abandonment weighs heavy on her heart. This time when he returns, she’ll seduce him with her feminine wiles to get him to stay?
I absolutely loved writing this story, so I want to thank my editor Diana for taking a(nother) chance on me and my writing!  Perhaps I’ll return to Johnson County, Wyoming, in the near future.

I’m currently working on edits for Heaven Sent Sin.  Revisions and edits are difficult for me, mostly because when I finish writing, I don’t like to go back and tinker.  What’s done is done, and I’d rather not have to reread and analyze each word choice again.  Unfortunately, revising and editing are valuable pieces of the writing process. Without either of them, you don’t grow as a writer or further learn your craft.

On the plus side, I’ve got two projects I’ve put on the back burner that I’d love to dig back out.  So yay for that.

Eagerly Anticipating

By Janna Lee Hayes | July 13, 2009

I think this book will be one of my favorites for 2009.  I’m totally in love with the cover already.

Unexpected Desire…

It’s been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn’t in the cards just yet…

Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough, in light of a painful event from Erin’s past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd’s best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed—and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?

Stuck

By Janna Lee Hayes | July 7, 2009

In the early stages of one of my WIPs.  That’s not an excuse — okay, it is — but as I was targeting a Black Lace anthology, there’s no real pressure for me to finish it by any certain deadline.  Then again, I should keep writing.  I like the story, am interested in completing it *and* for it to see the light of day via publication, so there’s really no reason not to dig in and reach “The End.”

Down To It

By Janna Lee Hayes | April 1, 2009

Currently I’m working on two short stories with a series of novellas and other projects taking up space in my brain.  There aren’t words to express how excited I am about my writing.  I’d thought I’d lost my mojo!  Well, my characters are calling.  Better get back to business.

Back in the Saddle Again

By Janna Lee Hayes | February 20, 2009

Writing-wise — can I get a “Hell yeah”?

This evening’s adventure will be writing a synopsis, not my most favorite part of submissions but a necessary evil (for some publishers).  Then I plan to query and tweak the ending a bit more and move onto something else!  Several plotlines floating around in my head are just itching to come out.  I’m so excited!!

And if I may squee about my new website design: a thousand thanks to MJ with Sizzle Designs.  If you need website help, get in touch with her!  Tuesday Dube provided the header; again, I have nothing but amazing things to say about both of these talented ladies!!

Happy New Year!

By Janna Lee Hayes | January 15, 2009

Only 15 days late, but better late than never, I suppose.

2009 will, I hope, be a good year for me.  I’m looking forward to being more productive.  More on target and goal-oriented.  There’s some pretty good stories floating around in my head, and I just have to make time to write something each day, regardless of word count.  When I don’t write, picking “the habit” back up again is torture.  Like pulling teeth to get back into the flow.

Crazy Train

By Janna Lee Hayes | November 25, 2008

That’s me.  Trying to figure out some coding I clearly do not understand.  Java Script, I think.  I once tried to read a “Java for Dummies” book.  Obviously, didn’t get very far.

However, the good news is, if this works out, I can take a flying leap off this crazy train.

ETA: It worked!!  This is my happy dance!!!
